Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to all applicable laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Accounts

The website requires sign-in with a Google or Microsoft account, or with a link sent to your email. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. The iOS app can be used without an account.

3. Source of data

frac.fyi is an independent analytics platform. Well, completion and production data is sourced from public records published by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Petrinex.

• AER: well licences, spud and rig release records (refreshed daily as the AER publishes them) and frac disclosures (as filed by operators).
• Petrinex: monthly production volumes and licence transfers.
• No affiliation: frac.fyi is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official representative of the AER, Petrinex or the Government of Alberta.
• Data accuracy: data is provided “as is.” We work to keep it accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is complete or current. Source records may be revised after publication.

4. No professional advice

The analytics, calculations (such as decline curves, type curves, EUR and intensity estimates) and insights in the Service are for informational purposes only. They are not engineering, geological, financial, investment or legal advice. Verify information against official filings before making operational or financial decisions.

5. frac.bot and AI features

• frac.bot uses AI models from third-party providers to answer questions from frac.fyi data. Answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even when they cite data. Check important figures before relying on them.
• Do not enter confidential, proprietary or personal information in frac.bot.
• Questions are sent to AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy.
• We may limit how many questions can be asked, to keep the Service fair and available.
• frac.fyi is not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated answers.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy data, analytics or visualizations from the Service;
• access our APIs other than through the website, the iOS app or the integrations we provide;
• get around sign-in, usage limits or other protections;
• interfere with the Service or use it to build a competing product;
• use the Service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

7. Integrations

Access to frac.fyi through the MCP server or other integrations is subject to these terms. Integration access may be limited, changed or withdrawn.

8. Intellectual property

The underlying regulatory data is public. The analytical models, visualizations, software and design of frac.fyi belong to its creators and may not be copied or resold without permission.

9. Changes and availability

frac.fyi is evolving. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the changes.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, frac.fyi and its creators are not liable for any direct or indirect damages, including loss of profit, data or business, resulting from use of or inability to use the Service.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
